A fan is a machine for compressing and conveying gas. From an energy point of view, it is a machine that converts the mechanical energy of the prime mover into gas energy.
Classified by principle of action:
Turbofan—A fan that compresses and conveys gas through rotating blades.
Positive displacement fan—a machine that compresses and transports gas by changing the volume of gas.
According to the direction of airflow movement:
Centrifugal fan - After the airflow enters the fan impeller in the axial direction, it is compressed under the action of centrifugal force and mainly flows in the radial direction.
Axial flow fan—the air flow enters the rotating blade channel axially. Due to the interaction between the blade and the gas, after the gas is compressed, it approximately flows along the axis direction on the cylindrical surface.
Mixed flow fan - The gas enters the rotating blade channel at an angle to the main shaft, and flows approximately along the cone surface.
Cross-flow fan - The gas traverses the rotating blade passage, and the pressure is increased by the action of the blade.

The fan adopts a single-suction D-type transmission structure, and the fan and the motor are connected by a coupling. The fan body is mainly composed of casing, air inlet, rotor group (impeller and main shaft), bearing box, coupling and other parts. (F-type transmission is double-supported with two bearing boxes, single-suction has one air inlet chamber, and double-suction has two air-inlet chambers. C, B-type transmissions have driving wheels and passive wheels).
In addition to the fan body, the unit can also be equipped with various external accessories according to user needs. The common ones are: motor, adjusting door, integral bracket, electric actuator, muffler, etc.
3. Repair and maintenance of fans
Correct maintenance and maintenance is an important guarantee for the safe and reliable operation of the fan and to improve the service life of the fan. Therefore, when using the fan, we must pay full attention.
3.1. Repair and maintenance of impeller
The impeller must be inspected for cracks, wear, dust accumulation and other defects whenever there is an opportunity during the initial stage of impeller operation and all periodic inspections.
Whenever possible, the impeller must be kept clean, and the dust and rust on it must be brushed with a wire brush regularly, because with the extension of operating time, these dusts cannot be evenly attached to the impeller, resulting in The balance of the impeller is damaged, which causes the rotor to vibrate.
Once the impeller has been repaired, it needs to be rebalanced. If conditions permit, it can be balanced on site using a portable test balancing instrument. Before balancing, all set bolts must be checked for tightness. Because the impeller has been running out of balance for some time, these bolts may have come loose.
3.2. Maintenance of casing and intake chamber
Except for regular inspection of the casing and air intake chamber for serious wear and tear and removal of serious dust accumulation, no other special maintenance is required for these parts.
Regularly check whether all the fastening bolts are fastened. For fans with pressing bolts, press the butterfly spring on the foot to the installation height specified in the drawing. Say
3.3. Maintenance of Bearings
Check the oil supply of the bearing lubricating oil frequently. If there is oil leakage in the box, you can tighten the bolts of the end cover a little bit. If this does not work, you may have to replace the new packing.
3.4. Maintenance of other supporting equipment
For the maintenance of each supporting equipment, including motors, electric actuators, instruments, meters, etc., please refer to their respective instruction manuals. These operating instructions are provided by the supporting manufacturers, and the manufacturer will provide these instructions to users in random packaging.
3.5. Maintenance when the fan is out of service
When the fan is out of use, when the ambient temperature is lower than 5 °C, the residual water in the equipment and pipelines should be drained to avoid freezing damage to the equipment and pipelines.
3.6. Maintenance work when the fan is parked and stored for a long time
(1) Coat the surface of the bearing and other main parts with anti-rust oil to prevent corrosion.
(2) The fan rotor should be manually moved for half a turn (ie 180°) every half a month or so. Mark the shaft end before moving, so that the original top point is at the bottom after moving the rotor.
